*Jumps around all over while beaming excessively*
I’m so excited for today’s post because this is the first post in the new Monthly Series,
Yes, January has just begun and I’m supposed to be posting this at the end of the month but I was too excited so I decided to post it today!
So let’s move on to the deep stuff. ( Sounds weird for some reason) So, I think the book that’s deserves to be the Book of the Month is……* Pauses mischievously*
Paper Daughter By Jeanette Ingold!
This is a truly captivating, inspiring and motivating novel beautifully woven by the author!
(The little chopstick bookmarks were the only Chinese related things I had , so I had to include them in my photographs as the story has a lot to do with China)
Okay, onto the blurb of Paper Daughter.
Maggie Chen is eager to start her summer internship in the newsroom at the Herald, where her father is a journalist. But before Maggie can even begin, her father is killed in a hit-and-run accident. Despite her grief, she’s determined to honour him by following in his footsteps at the newspaper.
When Maggie’s research for her first story reveals illegal activity that may be linked to her father, she knows she has to uncover the secrets surrounding his mysterious death and clear his name. Drawn to Seattle’s Chinatown, she discovers far more than she expects: secrets, lies, and a connection to the Chinese Exclusion Era. Using all of her instincts as a fledgling journalist, Maggie must confront everything she’s always assumed about herself and her father —— and each new discovery reveals more about her ethnicity, her father’s hidden life and a family she never knew.
